Before I started working at Media Arts Center San Diego, I felt a bit nervous, but once I started, I felt a lot ready. When I started, I had to choose a clip from a movie that made me feel interested, and I chose a clip from “The Revenant”, which I never seen the movie before, but the clips that I watched from it interest me. The next day, me, Walter, Gustavo, and Fernanda, all from my school learned how to use the camera and microphone, then learned how to save the footage recorded on cameras and the audio recorded on the microphone on the computers we used. We then went to the Hoover High School, where students from around the world who go to school there explain stories based on their race. After doing all that, we thought up some topics for our very own short documentary film, which we chose Food Justice. We then decided which role to take. Walter chose to be the Director of Photography, Gustavo chose to be the Director of the film itself, Fernanda chose to be the producer, and I chose to be the Narrator. Before we edit the film, we went to both Hoover High School and Crawford High School to interview students to have them explain what Food Justice means to them, and what it looks like. Then, we went to edit the film and it’s trailer, by syncing the audio recording with the video interview footage, thinking up music that could fit into the film, and using some video footage to have some cutscenes throughout the film. On the final day, we premiered the film at the Digital Gym Cinema right at Media Arts Center. Everyone loved the film and trailer, and they got a chance to ask us some questions, and I felt very proud of myself for being a part of the internship, and that I really miss being at internship.
